What happens to your chat, who handles it and when it's deleted.
Before you order
Your export is opened and read inside your browser. While you read it, search it or play its voice notes, nothing is sent to us. Your browser keeps the file on your device until you close the chat or your order goes through.
When you order
We receive the chat text, the voice notes and the photos so we can make your record. Photos are made smaller in your browser first. We never ask for videos or other files.
Who else handles it
Voice notes are sent to Google's Gemini API to be written out, and we delete each audio file as soon as that's done. We ask Google not to store each request. Its terms for paid use say it doesn't use what we send to improve its products, and that it logs it for a limited time to detect abuse.
The text of your chat and the written-out voice notes are sent to Anthropic's Claude API to write your summary and key highlights. Photos and audio aren't sent. Anthropic's terms for paid use say it doesn't train its models on this, and that it keeps requests for a limited time.
If one of these services is down or too slow, another one does the job. A voice note then goes to OpenAI's API. The chat text goes to Google's Gemini API, and to OpenAI's API if Google can't do it either. We ask both not to store the text. OpenAI says it doesn't train its models on what we send through its API. It says it keeps no logs of audio sent to be written out, and keeps text for up to 30 days to detect abuse.
Stripe handles payment and never sees your chat. Resend sends our emails, which contain a link to your record and its PIN. They don't include your record's title or anything from the chat. Cloudflare carries traffic to our server and stores our encrypted backups.
How long we keep it
Records you don't pay for are deleted within a day. If you open the payment page late in that day, the record stays long enough for you to finish, and it's deleted within three hours of your last visit to that page. Once your PDF is made, we delete the chat text, the transcripts and the photos used to make it. If making it fails, those files stay so we can try again, and they're deleted with the order 30 days after you paid.
The PDF is deleted 30 days after it's ready, or the moment you delete it yourself. Its title, the names of the people in the chat, the counts and the price are deleted with it. Encrypted backups of the database roll off within 30 days. A PDF's backup copy is deleted within a few minutes of the PDF.
What we keep about you
Your email address, which Stripe gives us when you pay. We use it to send you your record's link and PIN, and we delete it when we delete the record. While an order is unpaid, we also keep a scrambled form of your IP address, to limit how much one person can upload. Stripe keeps its own record of each payment.
Other people in the chat
A chat also contains what other people wrote. You're responsible for having a lawful reason to use it, and in many places that includes using it to protect your own rights.
Cookies
We use two cookies. One remembers your language. The other keeps your record open in the browser you paid in or entered its PIN in. These pages don't load advertising or analytics scripts.
